Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers were called to find a lost 11-year-old boy last night.

The boy was reported lost near Mission Creek Park and Springfield Road last night, May 25, according to a search and rescue media release.

His family contacted the RCMP after they spent two hours searching for him.

The RCMP conducted a preliminary investigation before calling search and rescue.

Nearly 30 volunteers showed up to help in the search, including members of the e-bike team and K9 team.

"COSAR started searching the park and greenway while fanning out to other areas the young man was known to frequent," the release said. "He was located just before midnight when attempted to make contact with an acquaintance."

Last night's search was the seventh call out for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers in the past nine days.
