The Penticton Farmer's Market and Penticton Community Markets operate this Saturday, June 10, 2017, starting at 8:30 a.m.

PENTICTON - Those with a taste for something different will be interested in weekend events in and around Penticton this weekend.

The Adventure Addiction Festival takes place Friday, June 9 to Sunday, June 11 at Barefoot Beach Resort.

The adventure festival was introduced to Penticton in 2011 and has since grown to encompass the many adventure sports the area has to offer.

The Canada 150 South Okanagan BioBlitz happens Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10 at various locations throughout the South Okanagan from Summerland to Osoyoos.

The BioBlitz is one of 24 being staged across Canada, and consists of eight family friendly guided walks in interesting and protected areas of the region.

Participants compete to take photos of as many species as they can.

The cost for the event is free.

Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs at The Dream Cafe Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10, starting at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $60 and $45.

Downtown Penticton is vibrant again this Saturday morning with the Farmer’s Market on Main Street’s 100 block and the Downtown Community Market getting underway at 8:30 a.m. The Farmer’s Market runs until 1 p.m., while the Community Market closes at 2 p.m.

The second annual “Rockin the Beach” classic rock tribute concert happens Saturday, June 10 from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at Barefoot Beach Resort.

Tickets are available for $35 at Bad Tattoo, the Skaha Beach Club, Barefoot Beach Resort and Summerland’s Yaki’s Pizza.

The gates open at 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. show start.

The Summerland Rotary Market operates Sunday, June 11 in the 10,000 and 9,000 blocks of Main Street in Summerland.

Farmers, crafters, artists and food vendors are available to sell local products.

Wildstone Colours4Kids is a 2.5 or 5 kilometre run for kids at LocoLanding Adventure Park.

Kids run and get covered from head to toe in washable, vibrant colours in a ton of fun run that raises funds for the OSNS Child Development Centre.

Cost is $20 for the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, June 11 at LocoLanding, near the SS Sicamous.
