KAMLOOPS — This dog was surrendered to the Kamloops SPCA because she kept escaping the property.
Duchess is timid and needs to be introduced to people and new situations slowly. She needs a more quiet environment and gentle handling, a media release says.
Once Duchess is familiar with you she is very gentle and sweet. She has great leash manners and appears to be full house-trained. She is anxious about car rides, so this is something her new guardian should be prepared to work on.
Due to the reason she was surrendered Duchess will require a home where she will not be left outside unsupervised for extended periods of time.
Great Pyrenees are known to be strong-willed, independent and a reserved breed. Their coats require lots of grooming to help keep from matting.
Duchess lived peacefully with two other dogs but the shelter doesn't know if she has ever been around cats or young children.
For more information about Duchess contact the staff at the Kamloops SPCA. Her animal ID number is 477526.
Visit the shelter's webpage for more information such as location, adoption fees and hours of operation.
