Looking for a forever home; Kamloops SPCA pet of the week

KAMLOOPS - Qi’ra had been trapped in a feral colony when she came to the Kamloops SPCA.

Lyndsay Stewart writes in a media release that Qi’ra was “quite sick” when she first arrived but once it was handled it appeared she was “not feral at all.”

This cat loves getting attention, but is not used to being picked up.

Qi’ra had a rough start to life and has not known what it is like to live in a home and be loved.

She may be anxious and nervous in new environments, and has a tendency to hide.

Stewart says “with a patient, gentle, and loving guardian we are certain she will continue to blossom” into a loving companion.

Because Qi'ra is used to living in a colony with lots of cats she would most likely be happy in a multi-cat home. She can still be shy at times and a home without young children is recommended.

Qi'ra had a very serious upper respiratory infection among other concerns when she came into the shelter and has been undergoing treatment. She may have chronic upper respiratory issues through her life so an adopter would need to be prepared to keep up with regular vet exams to keep Qi'ra healthy and strong. Once in a home environment she will hopefully continue to improve.

For more information about Qi'ra contact the staff at the Kamloops SPCA. Her animal ID number is 461785.

Visit the shelter's webpage for more information such as location, adoption fees and hours of operation.
