Looking for a forever home; Kamloops SPCA pet of the week

KAMLOOPS - This Great Pyrenees Cross came to the Kamloops SPCA after being part of a cruelty investigation.

Millie was removed from a property where there were too many dogs. Unfortunately she was poorly socialized. A media release says she will need a patient guardian who is willing to help her experience new people, situations and environments.

The Kamloops SPCA expects in time she will become your “shadow” and constant companion.

Millie can be cautious and suspicious of strangers. She may bark or growl at unfamiliar people at first. However she has come out of her shell at the shelter and has learned to trust many of the SPCA staff and volunteers.

The ideal home for Millie would have a safely fenced yard, and experienced, patient guardian. Millie is not suitable for young children due to her fearfulness. Things like going to the vet or lots of handling are very stressful for Millie. She needs a guardian that will work on this with her and reward her for calm behaviour. It is important to always make new things a positive experience for her.

She has previously lived peacefully with cats and would do best in a home with another dog.

For more information about Millie contact the staff at the Kamloops SPCA. Her animal ID number is 450641.

Visit the shelter's webpage for more information such as location, adoption fees and hours of operation.
