The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are taking off from the Okanagan this afternoon and heading home to Saskatchewan.

They were cleared this month to fly to Penticton after being grounded when one of their planes crashed in Fort St. John. As a result, the Snowbirds cancelled their performance at Penticton’s Peach Fest in August.

The snowbirds stopped in Penticton on their route from Fort St. John and will fly to their home base in Moose Jaw, Sask. at noon today, Sept. 29.

While the aircraft are cleared to fly, the remaining Snowbirds' shows have been cancelled for the rest of the year.

“Having not flown since early August, our team will take the necessary time to re-train and get back in the air,” according to the snowbirds' Facebook page.

Once back at their home base, the pilots will begin training for the 2023 season.
