UPDATE: Woman arrested after pulling a knife and uttering threats at Kamloops Christian School

Original Publication Date October 04, 2016 - 11:00 AM

KAMLOOPS - RCMP have a suspect in custody after a woman threatened another woman with a knife in the parking lot at Kamloops Christian School.

Police were called to the North Shore school at about 8:50 a.m., Oct. 4. A foster mom was dropping off two students when the childrens' biological mother showed up and tried to take the children, according to a RCMP media release.

"When the foster mom protested, the biological mother pulled a small blade and threatened her," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release. "Someone from inside of the school came to the foster mom’s aid and the suspect fled the area in her vehicle and without her children."

Because the whereabouts of the biological mother were unknown, the school went in to a lockdown, Shelkie says.

Police found the biological mother at her home where she was arrested without issue. The 44-year-old woman is known to police and is facing a charge of assault with a weapon.
