THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - While some of us are still holding on to the last strings of warmer weather, those looking forward to skiing and snowboarding will be happy to know the snow is falling at area ski hills.

All three of the big ski hills in the area — Sun Peaks, Silver Star Mountain and Big White — have experienced snow in the last few days, especially at higher elevations.

Snow has covered the upper elevations at Big White.

All three are also expecting more rain over the next week with snow at higher elevations. At Big White, the forecast is calling for a chance of rain and snow on the weekend.

Drive B.C. has also reported minimal snowfall at highway summits, with the Pennask area having the most days with snow on the ground so far this month. Currently the Pennask Summit weather station is recording just under a centimetre of snow on the ground though there has been a light snow since early this morning.

Snow is gracing even the lower elevations at Sun Peaks.

We woke up to another dusting of snow overnight and it's currently snowing lightly down to the bottom. Posted by Sun Peaks Resort on Tuesday, October 27, 2015
