KELOWNA - West Kelowna is first in line for what could be a series of council-to-council meetings next year to discuss regional issues in the Central Okanagan.

Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran was criticized during the recent election campaign for not communicating well with neighbouring communities.

Basran didn’t waste any time in his new term by suggesting such a get together to newly elected West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milsom.

“I had a brief discussion with him (Basran) at his inauguration meeting,” Milsom told iNFOnews.ca. “He suggested that we have a joint council meeting. It’s certainly something I want to do as well.”

Kelowna council fully supported the idea at a meeting earlier this week but it wants to take some time in the New Year to set priorities for such a meeting.

Kelowna has also agreed to meet with the Okanagan Indian Band next year and Kelowna Coun. Brad Sieben suggested a council-to-council meeting with Lake Country also be arranged.
