KAMLOOPS - A Kamloops business owner wants to bring a drive-in movie theatre back to the city.

It all started as an idea, but grew into something more when Shane Ziggy created a post on Facebook that got nothing but positive feedback. He says he wants the community to have something more to do on weekends than party.

Ziggy would like to see a 500-car drive-in to start, and expand from there.

"I just really want to see a better nightlife. I want everyone to be involved in one specific event that can happen everyday," he says. "Even the people who don't participate, I think they will in the future."

The owner of Ziggy's Contracting is trying to map out a plan for a new drive-in, organizing everything from bank loans and licenses to fundraisers. He says he just wants the next generation to have as much fun growing up as he did.

"It's a big nostalgia feeling, and now that I have my own kids I want them to have it," he says. "We're not going to stop until it's done."

His post on a closed Facebook group has been liked 228 times so far. There are hundreds of comments, most of them supporting the idea.

Ziggy has created a GoFundMe page with a goal of $600,000.
