KELOWNA - Police were called to check out an abandoned duffel bag yesterday, Sept. 19 and found a sawed-off shotgun that was not only loaded but had additional ammunition with it.
A resident found the bag in the 1400 block of Lawrence Avenue near Burtch Road just before 4 p.m., suspected it contained a gun and called the RCMP.
“Frontline officers attended the location and seized the modified and loaded 12-gauge shotgun, along with ammunition and other items,” Const. Lesley Smith of the Kelowna RCMP said in a news release.
“The seized firearm has been sent to our Forensic Laboratory for further analysis in an effort to identify a possible suspect and determine whether or not the firearm is related to a criminal offence.”
Anyone who knows anything about the dark shoulder bag is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300 or, anonymously, to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
