ARMSTRONG - The storm that rolled through the Okanagan last night is suspected to have caused a small wildfire burning 10 kilometres from Armstrong.
B.C. Wildfire Service fire information officer Taylor MacDonald said four firefighters were responding to the fire today, Sept. 4, which was burning 10 kilometres northwest of Armstrong in the Hullcar Road area.
MacDonald said the small spot fire was suspected to have been caused by lightning during the evening storm Sept. 3. The spokesperson said the fire was not threatening any structures.
B.C. Wildfire Service personnel are also mopping up fire 18 kilometres southeast of Sicamous at Kingfisher Creek.
The fire, which was reported Sept. 1, is currently being held at 0.8 hectares in size. MacDonald said 17 B.C. Wildfire Service personnel were on site and the fire was not in the vicinity of any structures.
