Peter Milobar is going back to Victoria to represent the Kamloops-North Thompson riding for the B.C. Liberal Party.

It was a closer race than expect but with 75 of 107 ballots reporting, we're calling it for Milobar who is holding 42 per cent of the votes. The NDP's Sadie Hunter and the Green party make up the majority of the remaining votes at 36 per cent and 10 per cent at the time.

Final election results won’t be known for at least another two weeks, in part due to a surge in mail-in ballots.

The former mayor of Kamloops has now won his second term. He was the frontrunner in the riding the B.C. Liberals have won since 1996.

Milobar was mayor for nine years, and on city council for six years. In his first term, he was the Official Opposition Critic for Labour and is a Member of the Select Standing Committees on Crown Corporations.

Milobar and his wife are owners and operators of a small local business.
