Liberal candidate announced for South Okanagan-West Kootenay

Connie Denesiuk has been selected as the Liberal candidate in the riding of South Okanagan-West Kootenay in the 2019 federal election.

PENTICTON - Local Liberals have selected their candidate for the 2019 federal election.

Connie Denesiuk has been nominated in the South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding, according to a Liberal Party of Canada media release issued Oct. 4.

Denesiuk ran for the Liberals in the 2015 federal election and lost to the New Democrat's Richard Cannings. Last month, former Penticton city councillor Helena Konanz was selected as the Conservative candidate in the riding.

Denesiuk has served on a variety of community committees and boards in Penticton and has deep roots in the region, the party says. She’s been elected to the Okanagan-Skaha School Board as well as serving two terms as chair of the Okanagan College board.

She has most recently been working towards completing a masters degree in leadership studies with Royal Roads University.

“I am honoured to serve as our 2019 Liberal candidate for South Okanagan-West Kootenay, and I’m ready to work with Justin Trudeau to create good jobs, strengthen our middle class, and grow our economy. I will work every day to earn the trust of every family in our region, and to bring our ideas and voices to Ottawa,” Denesiuk says in the release.
