OPINION

To Mike Hall, host of Rust Valley Restorers,

I've been a car junkie since I was a kid growing up in the late 1960s and '70s. I'm 58 now.

Growing up going to alcohol burning flat bottom boat racing in the late '60s, early '70s in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana really had a profound affect on my appreciation for raw motor muscle as I'm sure you could understand.

The first car I painted was a 1967 Lemans rag top with a stock 326 cubic-inch V8 when I was 15 years of age.

That led me to a 65 Malibu SS two-door post car with a factory four-speed and a bench seat.

Next was a red 68 charger 383 car with white interior.

My last restoration was my 1969 Ram air four with a 390 HP 400 Cid and a Muncie four-speed car. No air, just your basic muscle car, no hide away. Head lights are the only option with a black vinyl top and rally two wheels.

Anyway, I want you to know how much respect I have for you and your attitude is spot on with my feelings for muscle cars that people could connect with, unlike the crap built today.

In my opinion your show is truthful to life the way it should be. Your passion and determination to do high quality work without screwing people over along with your abundant raw fun personality is highly magnetic. I find myself thinking you and I would have been great friends had things been different in my life choices for a career.

It's a bummer knowing that you're selling off "the field of dreams," I was hoping to one day rummage through it and enjoy the day.

You blow away other car shows like Counts Customs and Fully Torqued on the History Channel in my opinion.

You keep it real, you keep it simple, you keep it fun in the way it should be. Hope that you carry on because I'm quite interested in following your journey. You're a great joy to watch you're a cool dude in my opinion, thanks for the good times.

Hope it's not over.

John Phifer
