VICTORIA - British Columbia's politicians are back in the legislature today, marking what promises to be an intense, but brief political period before hitting the campaign trail for the May 14 election.
Liberal House Leader Mike de Jong and Opposition New Democrat House Leader John Horgan greeted each other briefly before moving into the chamber to officially get the legislative proceedings underway.
Premier Christy Clark and Opposition NDP Leader Adrian Dix both wore bright smiles as they entered the legislature.
Clark's Liberal government will deliver its throne speech later today, laying out its vision for the coming year.
De Jong says the government has several new initiatives planned, and the speech will also be sprinkled with bits of political well-wishing as the Liberals prepare to hit the campaign trail.
The Liberals are set to introduce legislation that finally dumps the harmonized sales tax and returns British Columbia to its former provincial sales tax.
