PENTICTON - The city has tapped two people to lead the 2016 B.C. Winter Games Organizing Committee for Penticton.

Bill Bidlake and Doug MacMillan have each signed on with Bidlake serving as the president of the 2016 BC Winter Games Organizing Committee, and MacMillan assuming the role of vice-president.

Bidlake recently retired as principal of Penticton Secondary School after a 35-year career in teaching and administration. He serves as a director for the Penticton Secondary Scholarship and Bursary Foundation. He's been a member of the Penticton Golf Club since 1979 and also helped with the Penticton Summer Games.

MacMillan brings his own brand of experiences. As owner for nine years of Canadian Tire he's part of a corporation supporting youth sports, activity and community with charitable contributions. He was instrumental in fundraising for sports recreation centres in past communities he lived in and continued the trend in Penticton.

The president and vice-president are now tasked with the job of forming Penticton's Winter Games Organizing Committee. After this process is complete, information will be provided to the community on how they can take part.
