KELOWNA - Thousands of residents living south of Mission Creek can now start watering their lawns after a ban on all outdoor use of water was lifted last night, Sept. 11.
The ban was imposed by the City of Kelowna on Sept. 4 after equipment in the Eldorado pumping station broke, sending shards of quartz into the wet well where the water collects for distribution.
That material had to be cleaned out, the well disinfected and water tested to make sure it was safe.
Some residents will have to wait until tomorrow to start watering again since the entire city is under what’s called Stage 1 watering restrictions.
That means homes with odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while those with even-numbered addresses can water Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, according to a City of Kelowna news release.
