Large police presence in Kamloops after an alleged assault

Kamloops RCMP are responding to a report of an assault with a weapon on the North Shore.

Around 12:30 p.m. today, officers were called to the 1700 block of Parkcrest Avenue where a suspect fled in a truck after allegedly assaulting and threatening a person with what appeared to be a firearm, according to an RCMP news release.

Police are currently on the scene.

“Residents are asked to please use caution in areas where officers are attending and reroute if possible,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Anyone with information relating to the investigation is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-5974.
