Coldstream firefighters responded to a large plume of smoke at the Lavington pellet plant this morning.

At roughly 10:45 a.m., Sept. 29, witnesses reported an unusual amount of smoke in the area.

An employee at the Lavington Elementary School, located on School Road, said the smoke has dissipated this morning and confirmed the location at the Lavington pellet plant.

The Coldstream Fire Hall said crews were responding to reports of a possible pellet fire. The pellet plant is located on School Road.

 - This story was updated at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 29 to include the location of the fire. A previous version said the location was at the Coldstream Lumber mill off of Highway 6, which is incorrect.
