WEST KELOWNA Gord Milsom easily swept to power as the new mayor of West Kelowna in today’s municipal election and he'll have a new look on council as well.

The former city councillor (2007-14) almost got in by acclamation before Mary Mandarino filed her papers just before the nomination deadline on Sept. 14, in part, she said, to keep Milsom from getting in by acclamation.

Milsom ran on the campaign slogan: Well Balanced Change. He talked about building positive relationships, reducing crime and running the city more like a business.

He is a financial advisor and took the last term off from council in order to focus on his business and succession planning and promises to dedicate himself full time to the job of being mayor.

Milsom will be working with former mayor, Doug Findlater, who was elected as a councillor but incumbents Rusty Ensign, Rosalind Neis and Bryden Winsby are out. Stephen Johnston, Jason Friesen and Jayson Zilkie are new additions.
