A fire in the 700 block of Beaver Lake Road seriously damaged a mobile home about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

Kelowna fire department reported in a news release that the family was able to escape and the fire was quickly put out by Kelowna and Lake Country firefighters. There was minor damage to a nearby RV and hedge and one resident suffered minor smoke inhalation.

A Gofundme campaign was quickly started for the Samms family who, it says, lost everything in the fire. They were able to get their dog out safely as well.

“The Samms are a hardworking family with strong ties in our community,” the post to Gofundme by Chantelle LaBrie says. “They are part of the local hockey association and brownies group in town. The family is now left to pick up the pieces from this devastating tragedy.
