A fire that started from a kerosene heater destroyed a detached garage in Lake Country last night.
Lake Country fire chief Steve Windsor said three engines and 15 firefighters responded to the blaze which was reported shortly after 6 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 8, on Long Road.
A garage and vehicle were destroyed.
Windsor said no injuries were reported as the people were home at the time, but they tried to fight the fire themselves before calling 9-1-1.
The garage was detached from the home, so the house was not affected and the cause is believed to be from a kerosene heater, he said.
Residents reported large plumes of smoke coming from the area last night.
