TORONTO - Attacker Tristan Simeoni scored the only goal of overtime to lead the Western Mustangs to a 9-8 victory over the Brock Badgers on Sunday in the Baggataway Cup final.
It is Western's third consecutive Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association title. CUFLA features 14 teams from across Ontario and Quebec.
Midfielder Rowan Kelly led the Mustangs with three goals as they claimed their sixth national title since CUFLA was founded in 1985. Attack Cody Ward earned championship most valuable player honours after scoring five goals over the weekend, including two in the championship final.
Connor Ham led the Badgers with three goals and one assist in the loss.
Also Sunday, the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the St. FX X-Men 10-5 to win their eighth Maritimes University Field Lacrosse League title.
