PENTICTON - After it was closed more than a year ago, the Penticton Kiwanis walking pier has reopened for public use.

The City of Penticton said in a press release issued this afternoon, Oct. 5, it found repairs proceeded smoothly once started in early September.

“It’s great to see this popular landmark returned to a secure and safe state for all residents and visitors to once again enjoy,” city engineer Ian Chapman says in the release.

Repairs to the pier were necessary following damage sustained during spring flooding in 2017.

The walking pier had damaged decking, guard rails, pile caps, piling and braces repaired.
