Keremeos RCMP seeking public assistance to find stolen saddle

PENTICTON - Keremeos RCMP are asking for the public’s help to find a saddle stolen in a recent break and enter.

Police say the saddle was stolen a few days prior to Jan. 1 from a Chopaka Road residence south of Cawston in the Similkameen Valley after suspects broke the glass on the door.

A Winchester .270 rifle and the saddle, which was embossed with the words 'In memory of Ralph C Bent' on the saddle seat, were taken, according to a RCMP media release. The saddle has great sentimental value to its owner.

The stolen rifle has since been recovered from a person on the Penticton Indian Reserve who claims it was purchased from Cawston area individuals, police say.

If anyone has any information regarding the stolen saddle they are asked to call Cst. Paul Tithecott at the Keremeos RCMP detachment at 250-499-5511.

Police are asking for public assistance to recover a saddle stolen from a Chopaka Road residence in late December.
