The finale of a Kelowna talent show goes Friday with five finalists vying for the coveted title and $1,000 in cash.

The five Kelowna's Top Talent contenders, who include vocalists and guitarists, will face off at Revelry in Kelowna.

“This has really been an opportunity for us to be like ‘look Kelowna, y'all are cool,'" organizer Tyler Marr told iNFOnews.ca. “It's been an opportunity to celebrate our neighbours, especially at a time where things are a little crazy. It just gives us a time to come see the amazing people that you share this community with, be in person and really celebrate Kelowna.”

The five finalists are Benny Shreds, Gracie Field, Lyla Donn, The Story Tailor and Jesse Lawrence.

He said the winner will be chosen by the audience.

“The entire contest has been extremely tight and so I honestly wouldn't even hedge a bet who... might be the winner. It's truly going to come down to be who's in the building,” Marr said. “It's really going to be who can sway the audience that night that's going to win it all.”

After all five performances the audience will cast in live votes using a QR code broadcast on screens in the venue and the winner will be announced live on Friday night.

“In such a digital world, we lose the connection with the people literally right next door, especially in a community that has so many newcomers," Marr said. "Some people haven't lived here for more than a couple years, so to be able to just sort of bring everybody together and create a community and highlight the person next door, I think that's really special.”

The finale of Kelowna's Top Talent will be held from 6:15?p.m. to 10p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at Revelry, 1383 Ellis Street.

Tickets are $20 each with limited food and seating available, or for $50 attendees have guaranteed VIP seating and dinner.
