The Edmonton Oilers open the Stanley Cup final this Saturday against the Panthers in Florida, and Kelowna’s Prospera Place is have a viewing party.

The company that manages the Kelowna arena plans to show game one of the series on a 32-foot screen at centre ice, June 8, according to a GSL Group media release.

GSL is charging $10 a ticket and they went on sale today, June 5. The company said net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the YMCA of Southern Interior.

The arena will be selling alcoholic and non-alcohol beverages and concession food in what GSL describes as a family-friendly event.

GSL doesn't say in the release if it will be showing other games in the seven game series.

The last time the Oilers won the Cup, the Panthers didn’t yet exist.

The Oilers, Canada’s last hockey dynasty, won four Cups in the 1980s followed by a fifth in 1990.

Their last trip to the final was in 2006, when they lost in seven games to the Carolina Hurricanes.
