KELOWNA - Orchard Park Mall appears to have given up replacing Sears as a major tenant.

An application is going to Kelowna city council on Monday asking that Orchard Park Shopping Centre tear out 38,000 square feet of its building.

The mall was built in the 1970s and is planning a renovation to the north wing of the building that has been vacant since Sears closed last year.

If approved, that will reduce the overall size of the mall to 827,765 square feet.

It will also include a new entrance.

While there is no reference in the report to the tenants that may move into the three spaces that will be created, two drawings show signage for Mark’s, the clothing store.

The plans also call for 263 new parking stalls.
