KELOWNA - A Kelowna landmark eatery that was closed last year after about 20 years in operation is getting an overhaul with a 1970s theme and a new name.

Sturgeon Hall was recently bought by Kelowna’s BNA Brewing Co., which has applied to the City of Kelowna to increase its indoor seating from 71 to 100, along with the existing 24-seat patio.

Located at 1451 Water St., the plan is to change to a 1970s decor with “items from many decades on display” that will give “a memory burst for our guests,” reads a memo sent to the city and signed by Carolyn Nixon.

The memo says it will offer food with an Asian influence along with “curated pizzas,” local craft beers and wines along with cocktails in tiki cups.

The proposed name for the eatery was Spoonie Gee’s Glorious Emporium, but according to an email from a Nixon Hospitality respresentative, the name has been changed. They wouldn't say what the name of the restaurant will be.

The application to change the licence was filed March 1. There is no indication on when the request will be processed.

The Nixons did not return requests for interviews.
