KELOWNA - Three yoga teachers and more than 60 students recently raised $7,820 for a local charity.

Teachers Pam Radar, Shauna Nyrose and Chelsea Ray led a yoga and meditation class overlooking Okanagan Lake, on the roof top of Kelowna’s Eldorado Hotel.

“This is truly what yoga is all about,” Nyrose, co-founder of Lit from Within, the project the group raised money for, says in a release. “Yoga isn’t just about stretching people’s hamstrings. It’s about taking care of one another, supporting our community in real and meaningful ways.”

Lit from Within is a grassroots organization that supports bringing yoga and meditation into mental health, trauma and addiction recovery programs in Kelowna.

“For every $50 raised, we are able to provide one class in the community,” Pam Radar, another Lit from Within co-founder, says.

The event featured live music, a yoga class and a silent auction with donated items from artists and businesses in the community.
