Alberta police officers are investigating the cause of a vehicle rollover near Banff that took the life of a Kelowna woman earlier this week.

On Jan. 27, at approximately 6:50 p.m., RCMP officers along with fire department and ambulance crews, responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 1 at the Minnewanka Road/Banff Avenue exit near Banff, according to the RCMP in a press release.

A vehicle that was travelling westbound on Highway 1 lost control and rolled, landing north of the highway between the road and the Minnewanka exit, RCMP said.

A 23-year-old woman from Kelowna was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the RCMP, who did not release her name.

The three passengers in the vehicle, a man, woman and youth, were assessed for minor injuries on scene and transported to a local hospital for further assessment. They were also from Kelowna.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and the crash remains under investigation.

RCMP are not releasing any further information about the crash to the public.
