KELOWNA – Quick action by firefighters kept a fire from spreading in a multi-family building early this morning.

No serious injuries were reported.

Today, April 15, at 2:09 a.m. an emergency call came in reporting smoke and fire coming from a townhouse in the 100 block of Gerstmar Road.

According to a release from Kelly Stephens, platoon captain, crews isolated the fire to the exterior of one unit.

Fire damage reached the exterior of the second story unit almost to the roof and attic space. Crews vented the unit to remove heavy smoke.

Stephens says one male occupant was checked over for minor burns and two children were looked at for smoke inhalation. No one was taken to hospital.

Emergency support workers are now assisting the family in need. Today fire crews and RCMP are on scene and investigating the cause.
