Kelowna student injured when knife comes out during high school fight

KELOWNA – A Kelowna high school student was arrested after he pulled a knife during a fight with another student yesterday.

Shortly after noon yesterday, Sept. 26, RCMP were called to the 110 block of KLO Road with a report of two students fighting outside a local business, according to a media release.

“Police have learned an altercation between two youth students of a local school escalated to the point that one of those youths produced a knife,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release.

One of the youths was arrested and the other was taken to hospital with an injury to his hand.

RCMP do not say if he was stabbed or cut, but they do say a knife was located.

The boy was released to his legal guardians and will appear in Court at a later date.

If you witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police you are asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
