Kelowna senior hospitalized after van hits transit bus

A crash in Kelowna late last week injured both the drivers of a van and a transit bus, and sent the sole passenger on the bus to hospital with serious injuries.

The collision happened at about 5:20 p.m. Friday, July 31 on KLO Road near St. Armand Road, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Aug. 4.

RCMP said the Ford E-350 van was travelling west on KLO Road and collided with a B.C. Transit bus as it was trying to merge with eastbound traffic.

A 78-year-old Kelowna man was the only passenger in the bus and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 34-year-old female driver of the van and the 42-year-old male driver of the bus had minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation so anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
