A popular Christmas charity event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Santa Charity Event will not be taking place this year despite weeks of work to make the event happen, according to Baby and Me organizers in an email.

One of Kelowna's favourite Santas, Santa Tom, who is a staple of the event, said the logistics of Santa visits have become more complicated due to the pandemic.

“After weeks of work to try to make this event happen, we have finally given into the reality of the days we are living in. The COVID-19 numbers have been going up, the province is getting more strict and our priorities are becoming harder and harder to guarantee,” organizers sent via email.

The fundraiser supports the non-profit Mams for Mamas. This year, in lieu of the event, Baby and Me is holding a raffle for three $200 shopping sprees for Hape, Schleich, and Kyte Baby with all proceeds going towards the non-profit.

Raffle tickets can be purchased online through Baby and Me and in store.

Another option to support the non-profit is through Aviva Studios, which is hosting a Christmas mini event in the studio for the month of November.

Sessions are $149 and include a 20-minute photoshoot and five of your favourite images. Each session will include a $25 donation to Mamas for Mamas.
