The City of Kelowna has a new snow blower on the roads, but it's looking for a name for the new machine.

The City is hosting a contest and the top 10 entries will be up for a public vote.

"Help us name this lean, mean snow devouring machine," the City said.

"It weighs in at more than 45,360 kilograms and can launch snow clear over a house. It’s the Superman of snow blowers, and it’s already changing the way we handle snow removal."

The winner gets not only bragging rights, but also a "deluxe experience," including a photo shoot and demonstration with the snow blower. They'll also get a Snow Angels prize pack.

Any Kelowna resident can enter, with priority to the city's youngest residents, the City said.

The deadline for entries is Dec. 23 at midnight, which can be found on the City website here.

City staff will first pick the top 10 entries before the public gets to vote on the winner.

The snow blower will be used when large piles of snow and windrows build up and clog streets during or after a heavy snowfall, City spokesperson Tom Wilson said.
