KELOWNA - The Western Hockey League announced today its pre-season schedule in advance of the 2016-17 season. The schedule includes 68 games beginning on Tuesday, August 30th and concludes on Saturday, September 17th.
The Kelowna Rockets will play five pre-season games including three against rival Kamloops. Three are at home at Prospera Place and two are on the road.
Sept. 3 - Victoria @ Kelowna
Sept. 4 - Kelowna @ Kamloops
Sept. 9 - Kamloops @ Kelowna
Sept. 10 - Kelowna @ Kamloops
Sept. 16 - Vancouver @ Kelowna
The 2016 WHL pre-season schedule features 12 games in nine communities outside WHL Club markets, providing an opportunity for hockey fans in other areas of Western Canada to watch exciting WHL action.
In Alberta, WHL pre-season games will be held in Coaldale, Ralston, St. Albert, Taber and Wainwright in addition to the Crowsnest Pass tournament. In Saskatchewan, Ochapowace and Warman will each host games. Ladner, BC will also host a game between the Giants and Royals.
The 2016-17 WHL regular season schedule will be released in late June.
