Kelowna Rockets defeat Red Deer Rebels in shootout

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night, kicking off a four game road trip with its third straight victory.

Madison Bowey scored the game winner in the shootout, the only player on either team to score as Jackson Whistle stopped all four Red Deer shooters he faced.

Bowey also scored in regulation as the teams exchanged goals in the second period.

After the Rebels jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Kelowna scored three goals in a 2:02 stretch of the second to take a 3-2 lead into the dressing room after two periods of play.

Tyson Baillie scored his 30th goal of the season for the Rockets while Justin Kirkland had his 17th.

Kelowna outshot Red Deer 40-27 in the game.

The Rockets continue its road trip Wednesday in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Kelowna will also play in Lethbridge Friday and against Kootenay Saturday before returning home.

The Rockets next home game is Feb. 6 vs. Kamloops at Prospera Place.
