A suspect is in custody after a police incident at the Orchard Park mall this afternoon.
Police had asked the public to stay away from Orchard Park mall earlier today, March 19, due to an “unfolding incident" but didn't provide much in the way of information about what was happening.
RCMP now say a suspect is in custody and they are being questioned.
Police were called at around 12:56 p.m. to a report of a man with a firearm was threatening others at the Orchard Park mall.
Officers, including the heavily-armed members of the emergency response team, swarmed the area. It was determined there wasn't a gun involved in the incident.
Orchard Park mall is on Harvey Avenue, a major thoroughfare in the city.
