Kelowna RCMP seeking primary eyewitnesses in alleged stabbing

October 23, 2018 - 5:16 PM

KELOWNA - Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying three primary witnesses to an alleged assault with a weapon.

Kelowna RCMP say in efforts to further their investigation, they are seeking help from the community to identify a potential eyewitness in the serious assault.

The individuals' images were captured on CCTV footage.

On Wednesday, Oct. 10 shortly after midnight, Kelowna RCMP were called to assist the B.C. Ambulance Service who were responding to 911 reports of a man stabbed in the 200 block of Lawrence Avenue in Kelowna.

Police say an altercation between two men escalated to one man allegedly stabbing the other. When police arrived on scene, the suspect had already fled the area by foot.

A 33-year-old Kelowna man was treated on the scene and was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment, the release says. Police say the victim sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times.

“The investigation, currently being led by the General Investigation Section, has been progressing well as police have since identified and spoken to several witnesses,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “Our investigators are now looking to speak with additional witnesses, who have not yet been identified by police. The unknown male and two unknown females were spotted on video surveillance CCTV cameras in the area.”

The unknown male witness was seen wearing a black short sleeve, Toronto Blue Jays jersey with the number ten on the back. One of the unknown females had long dark coloured hair, eyeglasses and was seen carrying a dark coloured purse. The other woman had dirty blond hair in a top knot and was seen wearing a tank top and dark pants.

Anyone with information to help police in their investigation are asked to contact Kelowna Const. Ewan Dewolf at 250-470-6294.
