Police closed off a whole block in downtown Kelowna this afternoon responding to a call about a person pointing a possible weapon.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of St. Paul Street at around 1:45 p.m. today, Jan. 13, according to an RCMP media release. The downtown block was closed to traffic.

The incident was captured on video surveillance and officers arrested a suspect without incident.

The suspect had a replica handgun.

Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Ryan Sencar said in the release there's no concern for public safety, the investigation continues and traffic has returned to normal in the area.
