A Kelowna man could face hate crime charges for unleashing a racist tirade against a security guard at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in July.
Bruce Orydzuk was recorded by an iNFOnews.ca reporter on July 13 yelling at Paladin Security guard Anmol Singh that he was not a Canadian, was disgusting and should go back home.

“The actions that led up to that incident are deplorable,” Kelowna RCMP Supt. Kara Triance said during a news conference today, Sept. 13. “That case is being looked at with the threshold of a hate crime.”
The threshold for making hate crime charges stick is “extremely high,” she said.
Police officers, therefore, are working in consultation with B.C. Prosecution Services to make sure they have the evidence they need to succeed with the charges.

“This is still an active investigation,” Triance said. “I anticipate that our police officers will put forward charges on this case to the B.C. Prosecution Service.”
Singh has been widely praised for the calm manner he used in handling the situation and is pursuing a career with the Vancouver Police Department.
