Kelowna RCMP arrest 5 people, seize crossbow and imitation firearm

Kelowna RCMP seized a crossbow and an imitation firearm following the closure of the 1900 block of Pandosy Street last night.

Kelowna RCMP said in a media release issued today, Oct. 26, the area of Pandosy Street between Lake Avenue and Elliott Avenue was closed just after 5 p.m. following a report of a man with a weapon outside of a building. Police say it was determined that the individual was a residence of the building.

"The area was cordoned off and assistance was requested from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team," Kelowna RCMP Corp. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a media release. "Five suspects were taken into custody without incident."

Police seized a crossbow and an imitation firearm following the investigation.

"All suspects have been released from custody without charges, and our investigation is ongoing," Kelowna RCMP Insp. Adam MacIntosh said in the release. "At this time we believe this incident was caused by someone carrying an imitation firearm in public."

Police said no further information is being released.
