A Kelowna police officer was stabbed last night after attending to a disturbance in the city.
The RCMP officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Ellis Street in Kelowna, at roughly 12:18 a.m., March 27. Shortly after arriving, the officer requested assistance after they were stabbed, according to the Kelowna RCMP's press release.
Multiple officers arrived to assist and a suspect was arrested, according to the RCMP.
Both the police officer and the suspect where transported to Kelowna General Hospital. The RCMP officer suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the suspect suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is being conducted by the Kelowna General Investigative Support Team.
They are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken with investigators or have video footage of the incident to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-763-3300.
Ellis Street was closed but has since reopened, according to the Kelowna RCMP's Twitter page.
