Kelowna massage therapist under investigation for inappropriate conduct

A Kelowna massage therapist has to tell a professional regulator who he's been massaging each week after a complaint of inappropriate conduct.

The BC College of Massage Therapists gave Adam Lariviere a pair of conditions on his practice in light of the complaint from a female patient.

The college got the complaint on Aug. 30, then followed up with conditions on Oct. 12, as the investigation continues, according to a public notice on its website.

Lariviere may have failed to maintain professional boundaries and engaged in inappropriate conduct with his patient, the college said.

"The Inquiry Committee panel considered the allegations serious and found that there is a risk of recurrence if an interim order was not made," the college notice read. "Therefore, the panel determined that the public must be protected by an interim order during the investigation and pending any discipline hearing."

By 6 p.m. each Friday, Lariviere must give the college the names and contact information for each of his patients throughout the week. He will also be subject to random on-site audits at his practice.

The conditions will continue until the investigation is complete.
