Kelowna man killed in crash on Highway 97

RCMP

A 26-year-old Kelowna man was pronounced dead on the scene of a three-vehicle collision just before 7 a.m. today, Nov. 13.

He was driving a black Toyota passenger vehicle northbound in the 8000 block of Highway 97 North, near Commonwealth Road, when it collided with a southbound red GMC pickup truck and a southbound white Chevrolet pickup truck.

The Toyota was heavily damaged and, despite efforts of bystanders and emergency responders, the driver died.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated for minor injuries and are cooperating with police.

“While it is early in the investigation, road conditions appear to be a contributing factor in this crash,” Const. Solana Paré of the Kelowna RCMP said in a news release.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has video footage and has not yet talked to the police are asked to call Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Services at 250-762-3300.
