Kelowna man charged for Kamloops home invasion, truck theft

Kelowna man in custody in Kamloops after stealing a truck during a home invasion.

A man is in custody after a truck was recovered by Kamloops RCMP that had been stolen during a home invasion on the North Shore earlier this week.

Two men and a woman reportedly used force to confine a man in his home on the 100-block of Yew Street in Kamloops and stole many items, including the truck, at around 7:40 p.m., Dec. 13, according to a media release by RCMP.

Police attended the scene and gathered evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

A truck matching the description given by the victim was later discovered by police in a parking lot on the 1700-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway around 10:55 p.m., Dec. 15, RCMP said.

“As part of the investigation that commenced, a man and a woman were located inside the vehicle, along with weapons,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, in the release.

Kevin James Beattie, 31, of Kelowna is facing many charges including possession of stolen property in excess value of $5,000 and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

Beattie had in his possession a firearm, a crossbow, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device and brass knuckles, weapons he was prohibited from having in his possession, RCMP said.

He was scheduled to appear in court today, Dec. 16.

Anyone with information related to this investigation or to the home invasion is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2021-43681 for the recovered truck, or 2021-43429 for the home invasion.
