UPDATE: Kelowna man arrested after hidden camera found in winery bathroom

KELOWNA - A Summerhill Pyramid Winery employee could be facing charges of voyeurism after what was believed to be a small hidden camera was found in a staff washroom.

The man, who has not yet been identified to the public, has since been released from custody with an upcoming court date. Kelowna RCMP received the report on Friday, Aug. 23.

"This is not an easy situation for anybody. This is a serious allegation and affects a lot of people," said Ezra Cipes, Summerhill Pyramid Winery CEO. "We're doing everything we can to take care of our team. We're taking care of it in the best way we can."

Cipes confirmed that an employee was arrested and that the recording device was found in the staff washroom. Cipes confirmed that there was not any hidden camera in any public facility.

"It's been a very hard couple of days," Cipes said. "We'll get through it together."

The investigation into the incident is ongoing as police work with staff and management at the business, Kelowna RCMP Const. Lesley Smith said in a media release.

“Evidence has been seized in relation to this offence and once it has been properly processed, RCMP will be able to determine how many victims may be involved and further charges could be forwarded," said Smith.
