Interior Health has ordered a Kelowna lumber distribution company to close this week after a COVID-19 exposure in the workplace.

AFA Forestry Products, located on Gordon Drive, was ordered to close June 16. The temporary closure is expected to last until June 21, according to the health authority.

Since April, public health orders may be issued closing workplaces where public health investigations determine transmission of COVID-19, according to Interior Health’s website.

“A closure may be in effect for 10 days or longer to stop the transmission. For complex workplaces (e.g., large construction sites), a closure may be restricted to areas where transmission has occurred," Interior Health said.

When a closure is ordered, WorkSafeBC serves the closure notice and supports the workplace to review and enhance its safety plans.

Workplace closures are listed on Interior Health’s website here.
